Glasgow

Last week we announced that Andrea “Andi” Bradley had been hired as the new administrative assistant in Town Hall to replace longtime employee Jane Higginbotham, who is retiring. She was to have started her new job this past Monday, but she was informed by the town’s lawyer, Grace Crickenbarger, this past week that she was suddenly not eligible and couldn’t be hired.

The citizens of Glasgow received a survey in their water bill last week that the Planning Commission would like filled out and returned to town hall as soon as possible. There is also an online version on the town’s Facebook page.

Little Marvin and the Martians will be providing entertainment at the town’s first Rockin’ the Gorge event slated for June 3. The event begins at 6 pm. Admission is free, food and drink will be available.

There is a little group of flea market/yard sale folks setting up on the private lot owned and organized by Sonny Williams, located on Va. 130/ Rockbridge Road, across from Glasgow Baptist Church. He started out with his family and it has grown to several vendors each weekend, Friday and Saturday mornings. This is not in connection with the Glasgow Farmers’ Market, which is also open on Friday and Saturday mornings on the lot just behind them. Some vendors came over to the market and expressed a desire to set up under the pavilion. Be informed the Farmers Market is for produce, fruits, baked goods, plants and handmade crafts only. Flea market and yard sale items are not allowed. A copy of the market guidelines can be found on the town’s website.
