Doris Jean Swisher Dudley, 90, of Rockbridge Baths died May 22

Doris Jean Swisher Dudley, 90, of Rockbridge Baths, passed away at Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab in Buena Vista on Monday, May 22, 2023.

She was born Oct. 30, 1932, daughter of Lennis Swisher Lotts. She was predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Hugh W. Lotts; grandparents Clarence L. and Carrie L. Swisher; and beloved husband of 70 years, Lewis C. Dudley.

Doris was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. After graduating from Brownsburg High School, she worked as a bookkeeper for Whiting Oil Company in Lexington for over 40 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly D. Mohler (Phil) of Rockbridge Baths, and Deborah D. Cox (Cecil) of Fairfield; two sisters-in-law, Doris D. Hanger of Orange, and Dina D. Dudley of South Carolina; two granddaughters, Skylor M. Campbell (Richard) of Afton, and Meredith C. Love (Shaun) of Hardy; and one great-granddaughter, Madelyn G. Love; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Pastor Jody Lipham and the Rev. William Bearden officiating.
