RC Tennis Season Ends

Rockbridge County High School senior boys tennis player Matthew Feldman concluded his career with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Wilson Memorial’s Conner Miller in the quarterfinals of the Region 3C singles tournament on Monday of last week in Fishersville.

Feldman was the runner-up in the Valley District singles tournament on May 9 at Turner Ashby, but he faced a fierce competitor in Miller, who went on to win the tournament, improving to 18-1 this season. “Conner was great,” said second-year RC head coach Rebekah Butler.

As a team this season, the Wildcats went 3-11 overall and 2-6 in the Valley District. The Wildcats’ wins were against Stuarts Draft and district rivals Broadway and Turner Ashby.

Feldman played at No. 1 singles for RC for most of the last three years.

RC also graduated Ben Barney on Thursday. Barney played singles throughout the year and teamed up with sophomore Nic Faulds to represent the Wildcats in the Valley district doubles tournament on May 11 at TA.

The Wildcats were a young team this year, with just two seniors, two juniors, three sophomores and three freshmen.
