Southern Virginia University freshman first baseman Katie Claytor, a 2022 Parry McCluer High School graduate, was named to the USA South All-Conference First Team.
Claytor, a Buena Vista native, tallied five home runs, a program high for a freshman, and tied for the sixth most in the conference. She also recorded 22 RBIs – another record for a first-year player – while batting .309. Defensively, Claytor led the conference with 243 total chances, recording the second most putouts in the USA South with 204 and 33 assists for a .975 fielding percentage.
She was one of four SVU players who were selected to the USA South All-Conference First Team, the most in program history. The others were senior utility player Krystal Kemp, junior shortstop Adisen Webster and sophomore second baseman Dykell Jones. SVU went 20-20 this season and 6-12 in the USA South Conference.
