Francena Jones will become the general registrar/director of elections for the city of Lexington on July 1. The city’s electoral board selected Jones for this position on May 16.

Jones is to succeed Jackie Harris, who announced in March that she is stepping down June 30 because of family reasons. Harris has held this position since August of 2021.

Jones has been the city’s chief deputy registrar since February. She and her husband Brandon moved to the Lexington area in 2021 from Washington state. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in business from Washington State University. Her husband, an Iraq war veteran, is an active member of the VFW. The couple resides in Rockbridge County and enjoy spending time with their dogs.

“I am excited to start my new role and to continue to serve the city of Lexington’s voters for many years to come,” said Jones.
