The “Summer Bible Roundup” Vacation Bible School got underway on Sunday, June 4, at the Palmer Community Center. Approximately 70 children, adults, and VBS staff volunteers launched an exciting week that includes Bible study classes for all ages, crafts, music, recreation, and fellowship. Supper will be provided nightly. On Friday, June 9, a closing program will be held at 6 p.m. followed by supper. Hot dogs with all the fixins’ and beverages will be provided. Contributions of side dishes or desserts would be appreciated. Families and friends are invited to attend the final night’s activities. This year’s VBS is being sponsored by the six community churches: Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, and the Mt. Horeb United Methodist churches.
On Sunday, June 4, Burr Datz led the 11 a.m. worship service at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church. Following the worship service, lemonade and cookies were provided by the Worship Committee in the fellowship hall signaling the beginning of summer fellowship by the congregation.
Union View Advent Christian Church will hold its worship service at Lake Robertson on Sunday, June 11, at 11 a.m. A traditional summer picnic for the membership and friends of the church will follow the service. Members are asked to bring friends, and several covered dishes to share. A summary of the Penny Drive supporting Christian teachers in foreign countries will be shared and discussed.
