Nellie Cooper Rhodes, 76, of Lexington died Friday,
June 2, 2023, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1947, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of Arthur Lee Long Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Cooper Long.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Rhodes; daughter Veronica L. Cooper; and brother Arthur L. Long Jr.
She was a member of Church of God in Christ and retired from Walmart. Nellie was a member of the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life and Go Red for Women.
Surviving are her children, Shannon W. Mackey, Antoine L. Wilson, Tamara P. Wells, Wayne L. Poindexter and Theresa N. Poindexter; one sister, Steffany Henderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at New Hope Church in Lexington.
