Tourism Board Awards Sponsorship Monies

The Rockbridge Regional Tourism Board has awarded $15,000 to 13 local event planners in round five of their event sponsorship program. The events are being held between July and December 2023, and were chosen based on the strength of the application, the projected ability to attract out-of-town visitors, and how well the event aligns with tourism goals for the region.

Sponsorship monies were distributed to the following events in round five:

• Wade’s Mill 27th Annual Apple Butter Festival ($1,800)

• Nothin’ Fancy Bluegrass Festival ($1,600)

• 2023 Chessie Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, & 26.2 Relay ($1,600)

• Balloons Over Rockbridge Hot Air Balloon & Music Festival ($1,500)

• 611 Steam Excursions ($1,500)

• Boxerwood’s Music in the Garden Series ($1,000)

• North Rockbridge Trail Days ($1,000)

• Rockbridge NAACP Freedom Fun’d-Raiser: Community United ($1,000)

• Julian Lage with Danny Knicely and Aimee Curl at Lime Kiln Theater ($1,000)

• Rockbridge Beer & Wine Festival ($1,000)

• Luminary Nights at Natural Bridge State Park ($1,000)

• Community Fourth of July Celebration ($500)

• Rockbridge Regional Fair & Expo “Blue Jeans & Mountain Dreams” ($500)
