Roger, Carolyn and Wes Bradley attended the annual Bradley reunion held at Pedlar firehouse in Amherst County, on Sunday afternoon.
The PACT (Portable Area Community Table) free meal will be served at the James Thompson Community Center, 270 Catawba St., today, Wednesday, June 14, at 6 p.m. The next meals will be at the Goshen fire department on June 21, and at the Natural Bridge fire department on June 28.
The next Rockin’ the Gorge music event is scheduled for July 1, with The Pickup Band The farmers’ market has averaged fivesix vendors on Fridays; two-three on Saturdays providing produce, plants, baked goods, eggs, frozen chicken pieces, craft and gift items. Unfortunately not all vendors are available all the time. So far, produce is only available on Fridays. There will be more on Fridays and Saturdays as local gardens begin to produce those home grown tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. If you like to play cornhole, come to the market and play a game with Harry. If you are in the market for a set of cornhole boards and bags, Harry is the man to talk to.
The speaker at Glasgow Baptist Church this coming Sunday will be former interim pastor Larry Ross of Bedford.
Glasgow Baptist Church will be holding vacation Bible school for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, June 19-23, from 6 to 8 in the evening. On the church’s Facebook page, click on the VBS post and scroll down to the registration link. Click on it to fill out the form for your child and submit.
Juneteenth celebrations are coming up in our county, and in Glasgow at the James Thompson Community Center on June 16 and 17. On Friday, there will be a history presentation at 7 p.m., followed by the screening of the Academy Award-winning film “Green Book.” On Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m., there will be a cultural program, family games and music. At 7 p.m., you can participate in a history trivia game, a children’s film screening, and concessions will be available.
