The “Summer Bible Roundup” vacation Bible school celebrated a great week of learning and fellowship on Friday, June 9, with a closing program on the grounds of the Palmer Community Center. Each class was recognized with students sharing songs and Bible verses learned. Students were presented with a certificate and the gift of a New Testament provided by the Gideons. A potluck supper was enjoyed by all following the program.
VBS attendance averaged 80 individuals nightly with 48 children and 12 adults attending classes assisted by 20 volunteers. A penny challenge between the cowgirls and cowboys earned enough funds to purchase a sheep for a needy family through the Heifer International and to give a donation to the Palmer Community Center.
Many thanks to all who participated, donated food and supplies, and assisted with this year’s event. VBS was a “community of faith” effort sponsored by the six area churches: Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian and Mt. Horeb United Methodist Churches.
