New Monmouth Presbyterian Church is thankful for a fun-filled week of vacation Bible school as we learned about how God led the people “Out of Egypt.” Each day the children had a visit from “Grandpa Aaron” who told them about God’s acts of deliverance from the book of Exodus. Thirty children, seven youths, and many, many adults participated in the week’s activities. On the final night of VBS, family members were invited to enjoy a pizza dinner as well as sing along with all the songs the children learned. Thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy, talents, and resources to make the week a success!

The church community is invited to come out to New Monmouth on Saturday, June 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate the 100th birthday of Bob Moore. Well wishes in the form of cards are most welcome!

The Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club met on May 16 at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church. Janet Sensabaugh, widow of our deceased member, Dick Sensabaugh, was our guest, along with her daughter, Linda.

Michael Lotts from Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory was our guest speaker. Final arrangements can be done in advance. The arrangements will follow you wherever you live in the U.S.

John Burleson mentioned June 14 is Flag Day and 247th birthday of the Army.

Sarah Burleson reported on trash pickup and thanked the nine members that helped. Twelve bags of trash were collected.

Tim Hodges reported that the potato patch is growing. When harvested, they will be donated to the food pantry.

Hunters for the Hungry reported last year they were able to process 600,000 servings of venison with the help from Ruritan Clubs and other donations.

The club will have its chuckwagon at the Balloons Over Rockbridge event at the Horse Center on July 1 and July 2. Come out and have a burger, hot dog or country ham sandwich.

The June meeting will be held at New Monmouth on Tuesday, June 20, at 6:30. Scholarship recipients and their families will join us.
