Editor, The News-Gazette: I write today in strong support of Jade Harris, the Democratic nominee to fill the 24th District seat in the House of Delegates left vacant by the recent death of Ronnie Campbell.
Forty Democrats came together – on one day’s notice, during Christmas week – to hold a caucus to choose between two strong candidates for the nomination. I am proud to have been among those who voted for Ms. Harris.
Ms. Harris is campaigning on increased access to mental health resources, protection of reproductive rights and support for our public education system. She wants to bring common sense, civility and composure back to our government and is willing to work together with any and all House of Delegates members for the people of the Commonwealth. As an example, Jade notes that she would be happy to work with Gov. Youngkin on his recent budget proposal to increase mental health spending.
I await hearing from the Republican nominee on what Democratic proposals she is willing to support.
Let’s make the commonwealth a brighter, kinder place, by electing Jade Harris to the House of Delegates on January 10. PETER FARNHAM Glasgow
