Nelson Gallery is displaying the photography of Paulette Jones Morant for the month of July. The opening reception is this Friday, July 7.
Morant has been a highly regarded photographer for some years, going back to her student days at the University of Virginia and Ohio State.
Even earlier, her love of the craft started when her father taught her on a simple Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera in the early 1960s. Since those early days she has had a very diverse career, including as a teacher of Spanish over 30 years, 10 of which were at Rockbridge County High School. In addition, she was active in alumni relations for the law schools of Wake Forest University and George Washington University.
Her work has won many awards, most recently last year when three of her photos were selected as “Best Shots” by The Malibu Times.
