An Amherst man was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway Saturday.
According to a press release from the National Park Service, the parkway’s communications center received a report at 12:57 p.m. of the single motorcycle accident near milepost 74, south of James River.
National Park Service law enforcement rangers and area first responders arrived on the scene to find Christopher Bryan Graves, 35 years old, dead as a result of injuries sustained from the motorcycle accident.
The initial investigation indicates Graves left the roadway in a sharp curve, came off his motorcycle, and hit his head on a large, nearby rock, according to the press release. Graves was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
