Editor, The News-Gazette: Another election is quite suddenly upon us. Although many mourn the passing of Ronnie Campbell, the rapid setting of the date for a special election, means we must focus our thoughts on moving forward.
Moving forward means the opportunity to elect a candidate who really cares about our community and has a sincere desire to serve everyone, regardless of financial standing or background. Jade Harris is that wonderful candidate. I just met her two days ago and am impressed with her intelligence, education, desire to serve and her kindness. She just concluded serving as vice mayor for Glasgow, the first African American in that role.
Our young people are truly the future of our country. Those who choose a life of service at any age are to be commended. But those who recognize the importance of that service early on in their careers are wise beyond their years. I urge all of you to help us to move forward into the future by supporting Jade Harris with your votes. BETH HOUSER Lexington’
