Mark Alexander Harlow Jr. of Staunton passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mark Alexander Harlow Jr. of Staunton passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born Jan. 3, 1956, to the late Mark Alexander and Dorothy Day Harlow.

Mark was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired in 2018 as captain of the Staunton Police Department after 38 years of dedicated service.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen Wagner Harlow; his daughter and son-in-law, Caitlin and Mitch Dickens of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Lillian Elizabeth Dickens and Griffin Alexander Dickens; his sister, Linda Harlow (Terry) Caudill of Las Vegas, Nev.; three nieces and one nephew, Daphne (Devin) Lee, Andrea Barker, Dawn (Shawn) Peet, William Johnson, all of Las Vegas; and one aunt, Henrietta (Layne) King of Raphine; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Also left to cherish his memory are brothers and sisters- in-law, Buddy (Connie) Wagner, Mike (Becky) Wagner, Mark (Judy) Wagner and Nancy (Chub) Rexrode and a special Godson, Michael Dawson.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, July 21, in the Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren Church, 935 Jerusalem Chapel Road, Churchville, by Pastor Bobby Campbell, Jason Wagner and Greg Czerniak.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of Augusta Health ICU for the care and compassion given to Mr. Harlow during his illness.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Valley Mission, 1513 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of the arrangements.
