Sally Ann (Smith) Bulger of Lexington passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Kendal Borden Center in Lexington.

Sally Ann (Smith) Bulger of Lexington passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Kendal Borden Center in Lexington.

She was born Feb. 19, 1945, in Butler, Pa., a daughter of the late Dale Albert and Lucille Emma (Hinterlang) Smith.

Sally Ann worked for many years at Mellon Bank in Saxonburg, Pa., in various roles. She loved spending time in her kitchen cooking. Her food was relished by both friends and family. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge about cooking as an employee of Ladles and Linen kitchen shop in Lexington.

For many years, she was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Herman, Pa. After moving to Virginia, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lexington.

She is survived by her husband, John Edward Bulger III of Evans, Ga., formerly of Lexington; her children, Sean (Tonya) Edinger of Butler, Pa., Marci (Michael) Pesi of Melbourne, Fla., and Lauren Edinger and Edd Velez Sr. of Freeport, Pa.; her stepchildren, Paul (Sheri) Bulger of North Augusta, S.C., and Kathy (Jeff) Bulger-Barnett of Lexington; her grandchildren, Danielle Edinger, Travis (Sara) Edinger, Trevor Edinger, Dominic Pesi, Madeline Pesi, Isabella Hubbard, Isla Hubbard and Rico Velez; her step-grandchildren, John Edward (Ashley) Bulger V, Patrick (Emily) Bulger, Carol Ann Bulger, Whitney Barnett and Jessica Barnett; her great-grandchildren, Nora Jean Edinger and Mary Anne Edinger; her siblings, Robert (Linda) Smith of Kittanning, Pa., John Smith of Butler, Pa., Janice (Stephen) Groschen of Palm Desert, Calif., Mark Smith of Butler, Pa., and Karen (Rob) Williams of Underhill, Vt.

She was preceded in death by her stepson, John Edward Bulger IV, and sister-in-law, Donna Smith.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Herman, Pa., on Aug. 12, at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kendal at Lexington, Staff Appreciation Fund, 160 Kendal Drive, Lexington, VA 24450, to show thanks for the many folks who took care of Sally in the later part of her life.
