July 18, 1973

Buena Vista City Council gave the go ahead to allow Glen Maury Park to accept a bid to begin construction on a swimming pool. - Glasgow Presbyterian Church was making plans for a new building. The new building will be made of brick and will stand at the corner of Anderson Street and Blue Ridge Road - The long discussed plans for a solid waste recycling plant at Fordwick near Craigsville were abandoned and the land and buildings on the site were sold to a Newport News group.

Citing transportation problems, Nestlé Waters decided not to build a water bottling plant in the Big Spring area near Kerrs Creek. - Sarah Ross was crowned Miss Rockbridge Regional Fair at the annual pageant at Rockbridge County High School. - Butch Reid opened The Antique Mall in the former Rose’s Department Store building north of Lexington.
