Seminar Can Help Reduce Fear Of Snakes

July 17, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: Summer time is when we commonly see our reptile friends, snakes. Many of us do not see them that way, particularly the poisonous snakes in our area (copperheads, rattle snakes). Many other snakes are non-poisonous. All of them serve an ecological purpose. Understanding the limits of the risk with poisonous snakes will help us reduce our fear.

Peter Del Vechio, a local snake enthusiast, will be presenting for the Rockbridge Conservation (RACC) seminar this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Jordans Point pavilion. This event, originally scheduled June 21, was postponed due to weather. If weather prevents the outdoor presentation again, we have reserved a meeting room at the Rockbridge Regional Library. If we need to change location, that will be posted at www.rockbridgeconservation. org no later than 6 p.m. Thursday.

I hope your readers will consider participating in this interesting presentation this Thursday. ELI FISHPAW Vice president, Rockbridge Conservation
