If you have noticed white cross marks and other markings on the streets in town and surveyors at work, it’s all in connection with a sewer project.

The farmers market continues to offer various items each week, but not always the same items. The most consistent weekly vendors include the Zollman crew with lots of produce (Fridays only), Harry’s wind chimes and bracelets, and the manager with various handmade items. Linkenhoker’s Produce was on hand this past Saturday. He suffered some setbacks with the recent storms damaging his local garden, but he has another location in Botetourt County that is beginning to bring forth some produce like tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. He plans to be at the market Friday and Saturdays. Valley Pig Poppers was on hand this past week and they usually come every other Friday.

The Potter’s Hand with ceramics comes every other Friday and Saturday; however due to illness, they were unable to be there this past week. Maple Swamp Farm and The Baker’s Rack were also unable to attend due to illness. Hopefully they all will return next month. Sweet Confections was on hand Friday with some homemade goodies. She hopes to return next Friday with more goods. The market is trying to add more produce vendors to the market family for the shopping convenience of everyone.

The mobile health trailer was set up at the farmers market building last Wednesday. Hopefully, they can come back when the market is open on a Friday or Saturday.

The town of Glasgow’s Planning Commission will continue to accept the filled out survey sent out to town citizens recently. If you haven’t turned in your survey to Town Hall, please do so by the end of July.

Its nice to see some improvements being made to old buildings in town, especially the former Loughhead building to the right as you enter town. Thanks to Mr. Hamilton for turning this eyesore into an attractive place and useful business. In the near future another old historic building, the former Masonic Temple that has housed various businesses since the late 1800s, will begin to show signs of improvement. The property has been purchased by Gary Baker, owner of the Fat Lightener Co. Gary, who resides on a farm in Fancy Hill, is in the business of restoring old places into attractive, useful places. He plans to make this building his home base for his business.

Town Manager Phil Robinette noted in the recent Council meeting that the process of dealing with neglected and abandoned places in town, as well as places with tall grass, etc., has been started. Letters will be, or have already been, sent out to owners of these properties. As he says, “It won’t happen overnight. It’s a process.”

In case you were wondering, the town has not hired a town police person. The county has been covering since Angel Poole resigned. She did work security at the last music event in town. She also informed us that she and Lucy have put their house on Va. 608 up for sale, and are purchasing a place on the coast and will be moving there in the near future. We wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life.
