Mountain Gateway Community College has signed an articulation agreement with Old Dominion University to offer a pathway to a bachelor of science degree in cybersecurity, according to Tamra Lipscomb, Information Systems Technology program head at MGCC.
The agreement allows students who have completed an associate of applied science degree in information technology at MGCC to transfer to ODU to earn a bachelor’s degree by completing an additional 58 credits.
“This agreement provides IST students a pathway from a two-year IST degree at MGCC to a four-year cybersecurity degree at ODU,” said Lipscomb.
Cybersecurity, one of the fastest growing industries in the nation, is the protection of internet-connected systems such as hardware, software and data from cyberthreats. The practice is used by individuals and enterprises to protect against unauthorized access to data centers and other computerized systems.
