Some interior renovations have begun in the building that used to house Grand’s Home Furnishings at the corner of Washington and Main streets.
Owner John Adamson filed plans with the Lexington planning office to put in several walls to divide the first floor into two separate retail spaces. A small vestibule will exist inside the main entrance with doors for each retail space inside.
Adamson’s temporary plan for the space is that, once the renovations at Grand’s are complete, it will serve as temporary housing for Ladles and Linens and Shenandoah Attic. Both businesses are currently located in the Rockbridge Building next door to Grand’s, which is also owned by Adamson and is in need of renovations.
The businesses will operate out of Grand’s on a temporary basis while those renovations are being completed and then will return to their original locations. Adamson told The News-Gazette that he will then find other businesses to fill the spaces in the Grand’s building.
