The Chamber of Commerce Serving Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County elected its 2023 officers and board of directors during its final meeting of the year on Dec. 14.
The members of the board of directors serve three-year terms.
Stacy Stevens, who has been in banking for 26 years, was elected board president.
Currently vice president and commercial lending officer at CornerStone Bank, he has served on the boards of Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation and Economic Development Authority. Stevens is a musician and local celebrity. He and his wife Vicki raised their two grown children in this community.
When asked his thoughts about stepping into the role of president, Stevens replied, “I have been blessed to develop a career in banking in our beautiful community; to contribute to the varied and vibrant homegrown music scene; and to establish a successful business. Membership in the chamber has been critical for my personal growth and success in each of these endeavors. The chamber’s message is loud and clear: foster civic engagement, sustain economic progress and revitalization in our community, and promote workforce education. I look forward to leading the organization as we fulfill this message by engaging directly with businesses, local officials, and civic groups in all areas of our community.”
Ben Worth, academic vice president at Mountain Gateway Community College, was elected to serve as vice president in 2023. Dr.
Worth has deep roots in southwestern Virginia. He is a graduate of Lexington High School, earned his undergraduate degree in classics at Washington and Lee University and a master’s degree in English at James Madison University. He also holds a doctorate in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Kentucky.
Also joining the board of directors are Corey Bachman, Virginia Military Institute; Ward Huffman, Huffman Insurance Agencies Inc.; Jeff Pufahl, Virginia Technology Services; Zander Tallman, Just Games Lexington; and Albert Vargas, Goosehead Insurance.
The board of directors’ returning members include Katherine Brinkley, Washington and Lee University; Brian Daniel, The Seclusion; Janie Harris, James River Realty; Susan Kirby, Rockbridge Farmers Coop; Craig Lawhorne, Vinyl Cuts/Washington and Lee University; Greg Madsen, Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital; Tasha Walsh, Rockbridge Area Hospice; Lauren Welsh, JPW Construction, LLC; Sheri Wilcox, CornerStone Bank; Kelli Woodard, Woodard Family Dental, treasurer; and Bobbie Wagner, immediate past president.
