July 19, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette No one likes to give up the care of their loved one to an institutional setting. That was the decision our family faced following our mother’s recent catastrophic illness. Mother was severely ill due to a compromised water source. At her advanced age, her illness was nearly fatal. After an extended hospital stay, it was determined that Mother would not be returning home nor would family members be able to provide the level of care she needed.
Research of available facilities began. Mother wanted to stay local. Given few decisions left to her, we determined to move her to Shenandoah Rehab and Nursing Home. When Mother arrived at Shenandoah her health was severely compromised. We felt this would be her last and forever home. This was not be the case.
Under the loving and devoted care of the nurses, therapists and staff at Shenandoah, our mother regained her health, her strength and is now living independently in her own home. We cannot praise their staff enough.
Our family is grateful for the care our mother received while at Shenandoah. If your family is faced with a similarly difficult choice, we highly recommend the care and staff of Shenandoah. Thank you, Shenandoah Rehab, for returning our mother to us. The family of Betty Anderson is grateful. GAIL A. HESLEP Fairfield
