Virginia "Sis" Claytor Tyree, 93, of Buena Vista died Aug. 6

Virginia “Sis” Claytor Tyree, 93, of Buena Vista, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023.

Born June 29, 1930, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Claytor and Bessie Claytor.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Archie Lyle Tyree; daughter, Linda Hartless; sister, Ernestine Balser; and brother, Malcomb “Buck” Claytor. 

She was retired from Burlington Industries after 36 years of service.

She is survived by a son, Tony Ray Tyree (Betty); grandchildren, Melissa Greer, Hope Reilly, Brandon Hartless, Robert C. Lynn, Jonathan Lynn, Mark Lynn Jr., and Courtney Dawn Lynn; eight great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Palmer S. Hartless; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Buena Vista Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Covington. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
