Aug. 7, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: While the Republican front runner continually harps on the past, the Republican House majority keeps announcing “there’s smoke” as they investigate the “Biden Crime Family.” Let me remind you who is actually blowing smoke. Beginning in 2011, Republicans said they had a better Affordable Care Act and were determined to repeal and replace Obamacare. That was 12 years ago! Then in 2016, Hillary starred in seven Benghazi investigations, followed by accusations of destroying her server and being involved in “Pizza-gate.” In 2020 it was Biden’s turn in the center ring of the Republican circus with “Stop the Steal.” The results? After many multiple investigations, some in the courts, Republicans have continually come up with nothing!
During his one term Mr. Trump increased our national debt by $7.8 trillion. Then the Republican House initially refused to raise the debt limit to pay for programs they had previously approved. They continually waste your tax dollars investigating the investigators. Then they move on and create a new “Breaking News” crisis with a “look over here at the new shiny object’. These are diversions to avoid their actual goal which is to end Medicare, Social Security and other social programs designed to improve the lives of American families. Then they complain America has gone to hell.
This “front runner” candidate says they’re coming for you. Actually, Republicans are the ones banning books, passing voter suppression laws, and denying health care by imposing felonies and prison time on women and anyone assisting them.
When you tell the truth, facts are the same each time you tell it. When you lie, the fictional story will continually change. A congressman investigating Hunter said, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire” in an attempt to impeach his father. To him, I’ll add, “Liar, Liar, pants on fire.”
To paraphrase a three-time election looser, twice impeached, and three-time indicted and possibly a fourth: “Lock him up!” This is my free speech opinion. THOMAS DeSANTIS Buena Vista
