Regan To Coach U.S. In Maccabiah Games

Virginia Military Institute head men’s soccer coach Nick Regan has been appointed head coach of the United States ahead of the XV Pan-American Ma ccabiah Games in Argentina this winter, VMI reported in a press release on Tuesday of last week.

Looking forward to the experience, Regan said, “It is an incredible honor to be given the opportunity to lead the U.S. National Team into a major international sporting event. This appointment is a testament to the progress we have made here at VMI over the past year. People near and far are taking notice of what we are building here. It is an incredibly exciting time to be a part of VMI men’s soccer.”

The Maccabiah Games – open to Jewish athletes around the world as well as Israeli citizens – are the third-largest sporting event in the world by number of competitors, with 10,000 athletes competing (after the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup). The Maccabiah Games have been under the auspices and supervision of the International Olympic Committee since 1961, and are held every four years.

Regan, who helped VMI set multiple program careerhighs in 2022, enters his second year at the helm for the men’s soccer team. Last year, the Keydets scored their most goals in nine years and also had their fewest SoCon goals conceded in 40 years, most shutouts in 14 years and the first win on Patchin Field in four years VMI will start its 2023 season at Robert Morris University on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. For the full VMI schedule and updates, visit www.vmikeydets.com.
