New Monmouth Presbyterian Church had a special time of prayer for all the students, teachers and administrators returning to school during the Sunday morning service. Thank you to Tim Hodges for leading a hymn sing during church, and for Dianne Swink and Laura Hotinger for providing music for the offertory.

Nathan and Lora Welsh, son and daughter-in-law of Tim and Janeen Welsh, gave a presentation about their mission work among the Roma people in Albania. The evening concluded with dinner and more opportunity for fellowship. Thanks to all who helped provide food and helped with set-up and cleanup.

Next week, Aug. 20, there will be a brief congregational meeting after church to consider the pastor’s terms of call.

All rising middle and high school students and their friends are invited to attend the God’s Circle of Fruit youth group outing on Aug. 27. We will meet immediately following the 10 a.m. worship service in the kitchen for an early lunch and to revisit and discuss the “scavenger hunt” questions and then head out to Goshen Pass for swimming and snacks. Please call Janeen Welsh at (540) 460-8147 so we can arrange transportation.

The next women’s circle will be on Aug. 29 at Deb Jarret’s house.

Worship continues at 10 am for the next few weeks. Church hours will change the weekend after Labor Day. On Sept. 10 Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m. and church at 11 a.m.

Thank you to all who have contributed school supplies and made donations to help the children at Natural Bridge. It is an ongoing project. So far we have collected quite a few items that have already been delivered to the school for the beginning of school this week! Below is what has been collected so far and the goals we would like to reach: we have collected 50 out of 200 notebooks, 312 out of 1,000 pencils, 244 out of 200 pink pearl erasers, 59 out of 200 boxes of crayons and 96 out of 400 white board markers.
