A Labor Day celebration at the Rockbridge Baths firehouse will feature a Truly Free Market from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and a pulled pork barbecue meal from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4.
No money is needed at the Truly Free Market. Everything is free. The market is a way for people to give away lightly used items that they no longer need. Those who can use these items will take them on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Area residents can bring their lightly used items and place them under tents in the firehouse yard on Sunday, Sept. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. or Monday, Sept. 4, from 7 to 9 a.m.
The pulled pork barbecue meal costs $10 and is a fundraiser for the Rockbridge Baths Volunteer Fire Department. It includes a 1/4 pound pulled pork sandwich, barbecue sauce, coleslaw, chips, dessert, and a cold beverage.
Children, age 4-12, can play on a large Combo Jump Castle.
Usable items that are not taken from the Truly Free Market will be taken to Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity. Persons who have questions or want to volunteer to help should contact Lee Felty at [email protected] or (757) 478-5261.
This is Rockbridge Baths Community Organization’s third Truly Free Market and the second time it has happened on Labor Day. Last year a rainy morning did not dampen the enthusiasm of over 160 participants who came to shop, eat, and talk with old friends and new acquaintances. Over 20 persons donated items for the Truly Free Market in 2022.
