Aug. 20, 1969, was a day in history for Glasgow and other communities in the county. Yet I don’t remember seeing any posts, or comments as there is a whole new generation of adults who were not even born yet. Yet there are some of old folks who do remember the devastating flood of ‘69, especially if we were directly affected by it.
A huge crowd was on hand for the final music event at Locher Pavilion on Saturday, Aug. 12, with Southpaw who entertained the masses with their great sound. The Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department and Bizzee B’s provided delicious food, and Holy Cow Ice Cream had the dessert.
For the time being, no brush or debris is to be taken to the Locher field location so that the town staff can clean what is there before the regional fair, which is scheduled for Sept. 7, 8 and 9.
The fair will mostly take place at the Locher Field location, except the quilt and art displays, which will be located at Glasgow Baptist Church.
There will be a car show on Sept. 9 at Knick Field.
The Farmers Market has averaged about six vendors each Friday and Saturday of late. They have included garden veggies, fresh pork skins, baked goods and, of course, the crafters. They have also seen a number of new customers, as well as the faithful old ones, coming to check out the products.
