The Effinger Ruritan Club would like to thank all those who attended and were a part of the 33rd Palmer Ice Cream Supper held Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Palmer Community Center. The evening drew approximately 1,038 patrons of all ages who enjoyed music, good food, delicious homemade ice cream, and the opportunity to gather with friends and enjoy the fellowship. Those in attendance were also able to visit the Rockbridge Regional Library’s bookmobile, sign up for library cards and obtain books.
Special thanks are extended to the event’s leadership team and to all the Effinger Ruritan Club members and their families who worked diligently to make the event so successful. Appreciation is also extended to the members of the Palmer Community Center, the Boy Scouts, and to the many volunteers for their help in making the event run so smoothly. Funds raised from the sale of food, ice cream, and the 50/50 drawing will be used to support the Palmer Community Center and the Effinger Ruritan Club.

Many thanks to everyone who gave school supplies or monetary gifts that helped make this PW project a church and communitywide effort! Stay tuned for the final number of bags prepared in next week’s column.
