NB Man Arrested For Break-in

An arrest has been made in connection with the break-in and robbery at the Rockbridge Farmers Co-op on Aug. 15.

Dennis Wayne Orange, 34, of Natural Bridge, was arrested by the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 26 on warrants from Lexington for felony charges of breaking and entering, grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell and wearing a mask to conceal identity for breaking into the co-op on Aug. 15 and stealing a chainsaw.

He was also arrested on three felony counts of possession of burglary tools, three felony counts of attempted breaking and entering and three misdemeanor counts of property damage in connection to other attempted break-ins in Lexington, including at the Rockbridge Area Relief Association building and the cemetery building.

Orange is also facing felony charges in Rockbridge County of grand larceny and breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny in connection with the theft of an ATV in the South Buffalo area on Aug. 19.

Women Charged In Walmart Thefts

Two Covington women who were arrested by the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office in July on multiple charges, including grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell, are now facing additional charges in connection with similar thefts.

Tia Jaden Bailey Brannon, 21, and Reanna Lauryn Hardy, 22, were arrested on July 22 after being caught shoplifting a television at the local Walmart, which they later planned to pawn for money. They were each charged with one count of grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell, conspiracy to commit grand larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny with intent to sell and one misdemeanor count of attempting to flee law enforcement. Hardy was also charged with two additional felonies – concealing a stolen firearm and assault and battery on law enforcement.

On Aug. 21, following further investigation by the sheriff’s office, the pair were each charged with three additional counts of grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell and conspiracy to commit larceny with intent to sell -- as well as one misdemeanor count of petit larceny each – in connection to three other incidents of shoplifting at Walmart. -The Buena Vista Police Department made the following felony arrest last week: Paul Umbarger, 39, of Raphine, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug and one count of possession of a firearm while possessing a schedule I or II drug on Aug. 20. -The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office made the following felony arrests over the past two months.

Jonathan Crowell, 20, of Gladys, for three counts of possession of child pornography on Aug. 21.

Nathan R. Smedley, 30, of Lexington, for one count of violation of a protective order (third offense) on Aug. 17.

Tristan Bane, 19, of Lexington, on warrants from Augusta County for one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm, one count of shooting while in commission of a felony and one count of maliciously causing bodily harm on Aug. 16.

Taylor Wayne Ramsey, 22, of Buena Vista, for one count of felony eluding, one count of grand larceny of a motor vehicle and one misdemeanor count of driving with a suspended license on Aug. 16.

Glen Allen Fitzgerald, 55, of Lexington, for five counts of assault and battery on law enforcement officer on Aug. 15 and one count of felony domestic assault (third offense), five misdemeanor counts of assault, two misdemeanor counts of brandishing a firearm, one misdemeanor count of public drunkenness, one misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice, one misdemeanor count of improperly tagged marijuana, one misdemeanor count of marijuana plants visible to the public and one misdemeanor count of excessive marijuana plants on Aug. 12.

Jay John Dell Jr., 44, of Natural Bridge Station, for one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Aug. 12.

Daryel R. Bailey, 37, on a warrant from Botetourt County for one count of failure to appear on a felony charge on Aug. 11.

Jason Scott Hartless, 34, of Lexington, for three counts of assault and battery on law enforcement, one count of attempted prisoner escape, one misdemeanor count of public intoxication and one misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice on Aug. 10.

Travis Dakota Simmons, 26, of Millboro for one count of breaking and entering on Aug. 7.

Dakota Dwayne Martin, 30, of Lexington, for one count of tampering with casino gaming software, one count of conspiracy to tamper with gaming software, one count of winning at gambling by fraud and one misdemeanor count of obtaining money under false pretenses on Aug. 6.

Mary Mikaela Daniels, 28, of Front Royal, for one count of felony eluding, one misdemeanor count of reckless driving and one misdemeanor count of use of defective or unsafe equipment on Aug. 2.

David William Stipp, 56, of Fairfield, for one count of domestic assault (third offense) and one count of strangulation on July 19.

Joshua Lee McDaniel, 36, of Buena Vista, for one count of removing a firearm from law enforcement and one misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice on July 17.

Dakota Todd, 26, of Laurel Springs, N.C., for one count of abuse or neglect of a child and one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence (first offense) on July 15.

Billy Ray Ryder Jr., 39, of Goshen, for one count of domestic assault (third offense) and one count of strangulation on July 12.

Christopher Mason Vess, 36, of Fairfield, for one count of throwing a missile at an occupied vehicle on July 10.
