After a very successful career of coaching at the high school level, former Rockbridge County High School head volleyball coach Amanda McCoy has returned to the area to try her hand in the collegiate ranks.
Southern Virginia University has named McCoy a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s volleyball team.
McCoy coached RC for six years, from 2016-2022, leading the Wildcats to five district titles, two regional championships, one regional runner-up team and two state tournament appearances. She stepped down after the 2021-22 school year to relocate with her husband, Kris.
SVU will start its season at the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament this weekend in Virginia Beach, beginning with a match against Salem College (N.C.) on Friday at 3 p.m.
