The Brownsburg Community Association invites are residents to come run, jog, walk or stroll from Brownsburg to Wades Mill on Saturday, Sept. 16 in the sixth annual Run of the Mill 5K.
The point-to-point course over slightly hilly tarmac bisects farmland and crosses several creeks in northern Rockbridge County. Residents will clap and cheer participants across the finish line at historic Wades Mill. All ages and abilities are welcome, including children in strollers and canine companions on leash, as well as spectators.
The top three female and male finishers receive prizes, with first prize being a custom shoe fitting and a free pair of shoes (limited to in-stock inventory) from Lex Running Store. The youngest and oldest finishers and the first dog also receive prizes and all finishers receive medals. The awards ceremony is followed by a free hot dog lunch for all participants and spectators.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Wades Mill where participants and spectators will find ample parking. Buses will shuttle runners to the starting line in Brownsburg where the race starts at 10 a.m.
Preregistration is $20 and includes a “Run of the Mill” tshirt. Please include your name, contact number and email with mailed checks. Preregistration closes on Sunday, Aug. 27.
Participants can also register on the morning of the 5K for $25. All registrants receive a “swag bag.”
Proceeds from the Run of the Mill 5K support college scholarships for local students, local fire and rescue teams and community projects and charitable activities.
