Sending well wishes to Ron Williams in Concord, N.C., from his Virginia family and friends. Ron recently had eye surgery.

Sending birthday wishes to Amie Somervold in South Dakota from her Virginia family as well as to Faith Baptist member Shirley Humphries. And happy 11th birthday to my fur baby Mala, a tortoiseshell shorthair cat, and ninth birthday to my grandmother’s fur baby Big Foot, a polydactyl tuxedo kitty.

The Rev. Brandall Branch would like to thank Hugh Henderson, Dr. Robert Hull, the Appalachian Mission and the Buena Vista Seventh Day Adventist Church for coordinating the coat drive in Glasgow. More than 30 coats were donated, all of which went to people in need throughout the community.

Faith Baptist Church will have a Song and Praise Service on Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. Men’s fellowship time will be Feb. 1 at 8 a.m. Ladies fellowship time will be Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. The church’s Valentine dinner will be held on Feb. 12.

Many thanks to the Rev. Bob Brodie of Salem for leading a service of Holy Eucharist this past Sunday at St. John’s, as well as to Bert Buford and Josh Gardner for providing music for the service. Thanks also to Jason Hickman for serving as Lessons Reader. And thanks to Courtney VanOsten and Elaine Massie for helping me host coffee hour. Next week morning prayer will be led by Lynn Williams.
