Patsy Ann Jennings Taylor, age 88, formerly of Sarasota, went to her heavenly home (II Corinthians 5:6-8) on Aug. 23, 2023.

Pat was born in Laurens, S.C., to Oscar and Louise Jennings. She graduated from Furman University and taught school in Greenville County.

She was married to John Rollin Taylor. John was an executive with Sears Roebuck & Company, and the couple traveled into several states.

After an early retirement, John and Pat opened health spas in Alabama. Later John bought motels in North Carolina and Florida, which brought them to Sarasota in 1973.

Pat, after moving to Sarasota, became a Realtor. She and several partners formed Mount Vernon Realty Co., Inc. Later it merged with Coldwell Banker where she worked until she retired. While a Realtor she served on the Board of Directors, Professional Standards Committee and Membership Committee.

Pat was a member of First Sarasota — The Downtown Baptist Church where she served as senior high Bible study teacher, a trustee, was on the Pastor Search Committee and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.

Pat always loved her homes and took pride in sharing them. She collected friends like some people collect books. She was a gourmet cook and loved cooking for her friends.

Pat was best known for her rum cake and gave away hundreds over the years.

Pat is predeceased by her husband, John. She is survived by her son, Lee, and his wife, Rebecca; daughter Jill Burgart and her husband, Nick; grandsons Rollin and Weston and his wife Natalie; granddaughters Jessie Lee and Leila; and great-grandchildren Jackson and Micah. She also leaves her devoted real estate assistant of 33 years, JoAnn McManus, and devoted home manager of 15 years, Zoja Kubala.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date and a gathering of friends will be held immediately following the service.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory. N-G
