Former Resident, Abuse Survivor To Give Talk

Rockbridge Regional Library in Lexington will host author Laveeta Branche, former Miss Rockbridge County, on Saturday, Sept. 16, at noon.

Branche is a domestic abuse survivor. Her book, “Metamorphosis Interrupted: A Journey of Loving Yourself from Beauty to Battered to Beloved,” details her early life and family in Rockbridge County, a reign as Miss Rockbridge County, the Miss Virginia competition, and the tragedy of her abuse and spouse’s suicide.

Branche created an organization called AbsolutelyAmazingYou to celebrate, encourage, support and uplift women. She currently lives near Atlanta, Ga. A book signing will follow.
