Blues Fall at James River, 41-15

 

Friday, Sept. 8 – The Parry McCluer High School football team suffered its first loss of the season with a 41-15 setback at James River on Friday night in Buchanan.

In the nondistrict game, the first road game of the season for PM the Fighting Blues (2-1) trailed 13-8 after the first quarter, but the Knights (3-0) extended their lead to 27-8 by halftime and stayed in control in the second half.

Gavin Binns opened the game with a 67-yard touchdown run for JR on the first play from scrimmage and rushed for 122 yards on 13 carries in less than three quarters before an injury took him out of the contest. JR quarterback Zeal Hammons completed 4-of-8 passes for 103 yards and two TDs.

PM sophomore quarterback Nathan Glass completed 11of-22 passes for 133 yards and two TDs, with one interception.

The Blues will continue their four-game road stretch when they travel to Quicksburg for a nondistrict contest at Mountain View (1-2) next Friday at 7 p.m.
