This month’s Rockbridge Regional Fair and Expo was a success, according to Thomas Smalls, director of the fair.
“We believe that it went very well this year,” he told The News-Gazette. “We had great crowds each night, great bands and entertainment, as well as volunteers to help work, all around a fantastic experience this year!” For the third year, the fair was held at the Locher Pavilion in Glasgow. Formerly, it was hosted at the Virginia Horse Center.
This year saw increased attendance; Smalls estimates 2,000 visitors across Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Smalls was particularly pleased with the children’s activities and the expo portion of the event.
“We did have some neat things for the kids to do as well as the expo that coincides with the fair,” he said. “I would say our expo numbers were also up. We had a lot of free stuff for the kids to do if they didn’t want to ride the rides. Livestock had a great show and sale.”
Overall, Smalls was happy with this year’s event, and hopes to continue in the same direction.
For next year, he hopes for “maybe a few logistical changes, and just to continue making strides to grow each year. Like our slogan says we are a good thing growing!”
