RC Girls Tops In Titan

Wildcat Boys Third At Hidden Valley Meet

The Rockbridge County High School cross country teams competed at Hidden Valley’s Clash With the Titans in Roanoke on Saturday.

The Wildcats won the girls’ 5K race, while the boys team finished third overall in a 16-team field.

In the girls’ meet, RC placed first out of 10 teams with a score of 62. Leading the way was Deena Ludtke, who came in third overall out of 82 runners with a time of 20:49.55.

Following Ludtke was Anna Nye, who placed 12th with a time of 22:55.0. Nye narrowly edged out Jasliene Flanders from Southwest Virginia A, who ran a 22:55.94 time.

Dorothy Lewis finished in 14th place for the ’Cats with a time of 22:57.65. Rounding out the RC girls’ squad were Brooke Eichelberger, who ran a time of 23:56.32 for 17th place; Ruby Goodhart in 39th place with a time of 25:28.17; Kate Holston in 50th place at 26:16.14; and Cassandra Silver, who came in 58th place with a time of 27:11.60.

The RC boys team placed third in the 5K, logging 125 points. Host Hidden Valley won the race with 111 points, and Patrick County finished in second place with 113 points.

Preston Spangler led the Wildcats, landing in third place out of 110 runners with a time of 17:27.33. Spangler was followed by three teammates in a row: Tyler Ludtke in 28th place with a time of 19:25.48, Alexander Miller in 29th at 19:26.80, and Fisher Howard in 30th place with a time of 19:32.55.

Sammy Eastwood finished in 35th place in 19:46.96. RC’s Jordan Imler and Trenten Cash came in 38th and 39th, respectively, with times of 20:01.02 and 20:01.07.

The Wildcats will race again on Saturday at the Alleghany XC Invitational, hosted by Alleghany High School in Covington.
