Ronald “Ronnie” Lewis Slough, 78, of Buena Vista, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.
He was born May 20, 1945, to Louis Henry Slough and Jacqueline Holland Slough.
Ronnie joined the Buena Vista Rescue Squad in 1970 and then dedicated his life to serving the community in many roles within the squad. He served as president for many years and was the current president. He was also active in the VAVRS where he held many positions. He was inducted as a Life Member in 1994 and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Susan Ogden Slough.
He is survived by his children, Amy S. Coada (Mike), Chad Slough (Janna), and Sherry B. Cash (Dean); his grandchildren, Brittany N. Moore, Kyleigh Arehart, Whitney R. Williams, Vanessa B. Cole, Joshua D. Cash, Alyson C. Burch and Michael S. Coada; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Slough Martin (Hampton); niece, Quincy Mills (Tim); great nephew, Brayden Mills; and special friend, Kathleen Beverley.
A funeral was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. W. David Bain and Pastor Butch Grow. Burial followed at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
