Gen. John “Jay” Raymond, the first and former chief of Space Operations in the newest military service, the United States Space Force (USSF), will be the guest speaker at a dinner hosted by the Scott Van Cleef Chapter of the Air and Space Forces Association (AFA) and the VMI Arnold Air Society John P. Jumper Squadron.
The dinner will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Marshall Hall, Hall of Valor, at the Virginia Military Institute.
Raymond, who has had a long USAF and USSF military career, will speak on his time serving in the newest military service, professionalism in military service, and challenges ahead as the United States faces new and old threats to national security.
U.S. Space Force is responsible for providing resilient, defendable and affordable space capabilities for the nation and the joint force. It is the duty of the U.S. Space Force to protect the interests of the United States in space; deter aggression in, from and to space; and conduct prompt and sustained space operations.
As the chief of Space Operations, U.S. Space Force, Raymond led the organizing, training, equipping and maintaining of mission-ready space forces and capabilities for U.S. Space Command and other combatant commands around the world.
