Sept. 25, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: I am writing to thank you for the second “For Your Consideration” column in this past Wednesday’s paper.
How refreshing to read something other than the usual one-sided views on this page.
Mr. Lowry used only facts that could not be disputed in his writing and in doing so, he touched on a subject that has been widely circulated but not discussed regarding the Facebook comments posted by Senate candidate Jade Harris in 2020. An obvious faux pas that has been swept under the rug.
The late Collette Barry-Rec was not afforded the same in her attempt to run for City Council for her Facebook comments that were used in the most ugly and hurtful ways by certain groups here in Lexington.
We all make mistakes in comments made in haste or anger and I am sure that candidate Harris as did Mrs. Barry-Rec never intended to have negative comments become a target to harm their reputations and campaign.
I look forward to more columns by Mr. Lowry and hope all of the paper’s readers give him the courtesy he and other contributors deserve.
