Trinity United Methodist Church has named Addie Jay Beacham its inaugural director of Next Generation Ministries to develop and support meaningful relationships with children, youth and young adults, and to promote the Christian growth of all ages through education, connection, worship, and service opportunities.
A native of Lexington and a TUMC member, Beacham graduated from Christopher Newport University in May with a degree in communication studies and minor in religious studies. She plans to pursue a master’s degree from Liberty University.
“Addie Jay hit the ground running in her new position in August as Trinity welcomed back students from VMI, W&L and SVU, and she brings an exciting new energy to our many ministries,” said TUMC pastor, the Rev. Anita Mays Lucord. “She will be a part of a church visioning process to include bringing ‘next generation’ voices to the table, and she will support the development of intergenerational programming that will help Trinity navigate new ways of connecting with members of all ages.”
Beacham will draw upon her work serving youth in Christian ministry in Newport News and as an after-school teacher at Woods Creek Montessori to develop programming and support existing ministries. She will bring a fresh perspective, said Lucord, to existing ministries, including the Loaves and Fishes Sunday dinners, youth programming, and outreach to Shenandoah Preschool.
Trinity United Methodist Church, located at 147 S. Main St., Lexington, offers an in-person and online service at 10 a.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit trinumc.org.
