Paul Williams, who is running for reelection as Glasgow’s mayor, is a Glasgow native, having lived here for 65 years, minus eight years spent in the military.
He is a graduate of Natural Bridge High School, and Roanoke College. He is a retired from the Rockbridge County school system as a teacher, and baseball coach.
He is a member of Union Baptist Church, and has one child and two grandchildren.
Although he didn’t actively run for mayor in the previous election, he won by write-in votes and accepted the position. He has “stepped up to the plate” since then. Besides presiding at Council meetings, he has been seen helping out at the town’s music events, and he can be seen taking a more physical role whether plowing snow in the winter, to mowing in the summer.
Williams, however, had no comment when asked why he is running for reelection.
