Michael Wayne Higgins, 65, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at his residence.
Born in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Fonza Jacob Higgins and May Bane Higgins. Mr. Higgins was a retired police officer with Durham Police Department.
Mr. Higgins’ hobbies included playing golf, playing guitar, shooting and spending time with loved ones.
Mr. Higgins is survived by a son, Derek Higgins, of Wake Forest, and stepdaughter, Jordan Bowles.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Ebenezer A.R. Presbyterian Church by lay minister Dorsey Hostetter.
The remains will be buried immediately following the services in Ebenezer Cemetery.
