Friday, Oct. 6 - The first "ticket-paying" train excursion pulled by the famed 611 steam engine got underway right on time this morning, with the whistle blowing precisely at 9:30 as the train left Goshen on its way to Staunton.
Hundreds of people from many places in Virginia, and a few from outside the state, had signed in at one of the tents at what is being called Victoria Station, picked up some souvenirs at the next tent and boarded the train. Many took the time, though, to walk up to the engine and take their photos with it.
The excursion was the first of the day, with two excursions per day planned for the next five Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A few tickets for some of the excursions are still available.
