RCHS Students Evacuated, Being Sent Home

12:45 p.m. Tuesday - Rockbridge County Public Schools just announced that "out of an abundance of caution" students and staff at Rockbridge County High School have been evacuated to the atlethic stadium this afternoon and are now being released to go home.

Administrators are working with the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police on a unspecified "situation." Law enforcement says "there is no active threat at this time and the situation is safely under control." 

RCHS is releasing student drivers from the stadium to go home and buses are on the way to RCHS to begin taking students home. Parents are asked to wait until after 1 p.m. to pick up students.
