Oct. 10, 1973

Lexington City Council ordered studies of new streetlights that would better reflect the character of the city’s downtown. . - The county’s newly completed Lake A. Willis Robertson Recreation Area opened to campers. All camping sites were equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, chopping block, water and electricity. - Hull’s Drive-in was showing “Easy Rider Rides Again” and the Joe Namath movie “The Last Rebel.”

The turnout was moderate and the tone was civil at a candidate forum at Parry McCluer High School. -A groundbreaking ceremony for Buena Vista’s new Penny Park was held. - Dr. Steven Arcangeli was making plans to travel to Hawaii to compete in his first Ironman Triathlon.
