For the past three years, the Blue Forest Theater Academy has become well known for their children’s theater performances at the VMI Marshall Theater, including “Newsies,” “Matilda,” and most recently, “Fiddler on the Roof.” This fall, for the first time ever, the Academy is extending a curtain call to adult actors for their upcoming play, “The Importance of Being Earnest.”
Considered one of the greatest comedies in English Theater, Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” is a hilarious satire on Victorian norms. Its clever dialogue and biting wit make it a timeless classic that promises to bring plenty of laughs this holiday season. Set to be performed in early December, the show marks a new chapter in the Academy’s expansion.
Auditions for the play will be held at the historic Paxton House at Glen Maury Park on Friday, Oct. 13, at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested should just email dave@aiiadvisors. com, who can give them the selections from the play that they will be reading for auditions. Area residents can also just show up to the auditions Friday.
The rehearsal schedule is designed to be sensitive to the demanding schedules of working adults and parents.
“We understand that adults and parents have demanding schedules. We want to make this a fun and enriching experience for everyone involved,” said a representative from the Academy.
The Academy would also love to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in other aspects of the production including sets, lights and stage management.
